As an employer with employees in the Netherlands, you are obliged to apply the work-related expenses scheme (Dutch WKR). This WKR determines which rules apply to reimbursements and benefits you grant your employees.

Under the WKR, all elements you reimburse (in cash), provide (benefit in kind) or make available to your employees are primarily regarded as ‘wage’. This therefore includes not only employee benefits like salary, holiday allowance, 13th month payment, commission and the benefits in kind for the company car, but also all net reimbursements such as expense claims, the Christmas gift, a staff outing, and the provision of office supplies if you have a fixed place of work for your staff in the Netherlands.

The tax administration requires you to properly classify all your reimbursements and benefits into different cost categories in your financial administration in order to check whether you have applied the rules correctly. If you are unable to account for all your personnel costs, you run the risk of additional tax assessments and fines.

To be able to comply with the rules, it is important to ensure that both your personnel administration and your financial administration set up correctly and that the internal HR  & Finance processes have been properly aligned.

Target group

This webinar is eminently suitable for HR, payroll or finance employees of businesses with employees in the Netherlands. This also applies if you pay a fixed expense allowance through the Dutch payslip, as employers are charged with the obligation to account for the tax aspects of this fixed expense allowance to the Dutch tax authorities.

contents

Our speaker will provide insight into the work-related expenses scheme by discussing frequent situations and pitfalls. He will answer the following questions, among others:

  • To whom does the WKR apply?
  • Which reimbursements are taxed and which are tax-free?
  • Can I pay out a fixed fee per day worked?
  • How can I make the best possible use of tax-free expense allowances?
  • How do I deal with personnel costs that are not reimbursed through the payslip, such as staff outings?

At the end of this webinar, you know which rules you have to comply with and you will have the tools for processing your personnel costs and expenses correctly.
You will have the best result if:

  • Prior to this webinar you identify and list all personnel costs you have. If you have done this, our expert will be able to go through them with you and provide a highly targeted classification.
  • The persons responsible for HR as well as for Finance are represented at the workshop.
